Takashi Yasui: Japan between Tradition & Modernity

Takashi Yasui is a Japan Photographer who lives in Kyoto. He started taking photo portraits of his family and started an Instagram account. It was the beginning of an endless journey through photography and inspiration.

He started to improve his photography skills and met a lot of instagrammers in Japan and from all around the world. He learned from them how to shoot & edit his photos.

For shooting he uses a Fujifilm X-T10 & a X-M1 with monofocal lenses like a XF14mm f/2.8R, a XF35mm f/1.4R & a XF56mm f/1.2R APD.
For editing his favorite tool is Lightroom.

Takashi Yasui has a high sensibility for his country and he showcases the beauty of Japan in his work.
His work shows the duality of this admirable country and why so many people are so obsessed with this culture. Modernity and tradition are the two sides of a same nation which preserved it’s spirit from the hammer of the post-industrial civilisation.

Through his photographs we discover young girls with traditionnal kimonos, traditional temple and preserved town, but also the city modernity and his XXth century architecture.

Backcountry wilderness & Tradition

Takashi Yasui transports us in his universe and showcases a traditionnal Japan through the wilderness of winter in the backcountry or with spring photo of blossom trees.
